The DPECA Special Meeting to decide on the future of the association was held on Wednesday February 21, 2024. The attendance was very good with over 55 residents in the audience plus the executive members and the mayor. We will be sending out more details in the next newsletter, but we did want to let you all know what happened.
Ninety percent of those voting did NOT want to dissolve DPECA. Also, we had 10 residents volunteer to join the DPECA Executive. Both of these things were essential for DPECA to continue to serve the community.
The executive would like to thank all those who took the time to attend, who asked pertinent questions, who listened thoughtfully to us and to each other, and then voted to showed support for the organization and for those of us on the executive. For those who did not attend or might not be sure about DPECA’s value, we hope to win your support in the future.
The executive members are excited about the outcome but also about some of the great ideas that came forward during the meeting. We will be meeting with the new volunteers and planning an Annual General Meeting later in the spring. In the meantime, you can help now by paying your 2024 membership dues to provide the association with the funds to continue its activities. Special thanks to North Saanich Mayor, Peter Jones for attending the meeting to provide his insights into the future of housing and infrastructure in the area and to answer our members’ questions. A previous email sent to Dean Park Estates residents provided information and links to voice your concerns and provide input to the District of North Saanich. Be sure to take advantage of those opportunities to be heard. Some of the deadlines are approaching soon.
